As I was taking pictures for this Photo101 assignment, I was thinking about how my perspective on God can change depending on my point of view. I’ve studied this topic most lately in the book of Job (see chapters 38-42:5), and a Bible Study called Behold Your God by John Snyder.
I can make God very small if my focus is on myself and my problems. I can worry that my situations are too big for me to handle, and forget that I’m not supposed to handle them in the first place, but give them to my heavenly Father to deal with. …casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. I Peter 5:7 NASB
God is very very big when I look at Him in the ways He shows Himself from the Bible, when He gives us words and descriptions of His character. So I look for Him carefully, and through the truth of His Word, and He is more than big enough to handle my troubles.
We have to cross the boardwalk.
I want to walk barefoot, but usually have to wear sandals to protect the soles of my feet on the heated wood. Once we get to that beach, I kick them off and sink my toes into the sand. We trudge through the broken shells to the best spot for the next couple of hours, set up our chairs, and head into the water to cool off. Then I sit mindfully and listen to the sound of the waves as they come up on the shore. After a while, we walk along the edge of the water and find unbroken shells for our ever-growing collection back home.
The beach is my favorite part of living in Florida.
